Integration of Industry, Academia, and Research deepens and advances the prospects of advanced metals material

2024, February 26 Ningbo University’s President Cai Ronggen, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), with his delegation, visited Lee Kee Group in Hong Kong, this signified a deepening link between universities and enterprises with the goal of fusing industry, academia, and research.  

Chairman of Lee Kee Group, Mr. Chan Pak Chung and Mrs. Chan, Executive director, Mr. Patrick Chan, and Executive Director and COO, Ms. Lillian Chan cordially welcomed Academician Cai Ronggen, President of Ningbo University, and his delegation at the Headquarter in Hong Kong.

In 2023, Genesis Alloys (Ningbo) Ltd, member of Lee Kee Group, had already signed a strategic cooperation agreement on the co-establishment of an Applied Technology Research Institute for Advanced Metal Materials with Ningbo University, a “Double First-Class” university initiative by the National Government and one of the first batch of key construction universities in Zhejiang Province, consistently ranks among China’s top 100 universities.

During the visit, both parties deepened their understanding  on the exploration of future opportunities, which also weighed down by a tour at Lee Kee Group’s intelligent production line in Hong Kong and a visit to Promet Metals Testing Laboratory, a LME Listed Samplers and Assayer.

Both parties shared the same vision for strategic collaboration, aimed to establish successful integration between scientific research and industrial practices by pooling resources and using complementary talents.   This will drive technological innovation and industrial upgrading in the metals industry, contributing to the high-quality development of the nation.

Cai expressed the admiration for Lee Kee Group in the field of new metals materials and geographic span 20 years ago in Ningbo, a critical manufacturing hub. He stated that Ningbo University would fully support this university-enterprise cooperation, to work handhold towards common goal  of becoming an icon of innovative cooperation between Ningbo and Hong Kong.

This visit represents a new chapter between Ningbo University and Lee Kee Group, both parties will continue to uphold the principle of ” Grasp development, Assess development and Accelerate development” for a long-term, mutually beneficial strategic partnership.  This will help to foster talent development and cultivation, collaboratively navigate on the  blueprint of the advanced new metals materials, and contribute to technological advancement that transcend geographic boundary to forge new industrialization and sustainable development in the realm of metals materials.
